Make some noise!
Sinulog weekend is again upon us. It’s 2014, and we’re starting the year with a bang. There are going to be so many gigs and parties this weekend, it’s going to be insane. As for me, I’m not too much of a partygoer, but I do like my rock concerts, and this Saturday, January 18, 2014, we will be having the SONIC BOOM Sinulog Blast-Off 2014!
It’s going to be the biggest indoor rock concert in Cebu, and it’s going strong on its 8th year. I attended the Blast-off back in 2011 and 2012, and it was crazy good! The venue was back in Grand Convention, but now, it’s moved to a bigger and grander stage, over at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City.
We’re going to have some great bands coming from all different places. It’s going to be headlined by Kamikazee and Urbandub, no doubt two of the most popular rock bands that we’ve got in the country. We’re also going to be graced again by our Malaysian friends, An Honest Mistake. They’ve got a revamped roster, and are looking to rock! Lastly, part of the marquee headline will feature one of Cebu’s all-time greats, Faspitch!
- An Honest Mistake
- Blue Boy Bites Back
- Mr. Bones and the Boneyard Circus
- Paranoid City
- Save Me Hollywood
- Drop Decay
- One Man Down
- Maria Campbell
- Pain in the Neck
Gates are going to be open at 12:00 NN, and bands will start playing at 3:00 PM. You have been informed! 23 exciting acts and performances, and we’re going to rock out at the venue!
Aside from the bands, I also want to point out that the concert is going to be hosted by Monique Katrina and Joyce Pring.
As usual, aside from just the love for music, we’ve also got the love for the local clothing brands that we’ve all come to know and love. The Blast-off also features THREAD!Fest which is a collaboration between all local brands who promote the love of music, art and apparel. Headlined by your favorites such as Nick Automatic, Product of Uranus & Rhipstop, they’re going to have some booths there and have their merchandise up for sale. So save up, and check out the awesome booth displays they’re going to feature. The following brands are going to be there:
- Nick Automatic
- Product of Uranus
- Venom III
- Joints ‘n Cookies
- Markov Clothing
- Atomic Industries
- Monster Ink
- Escape Artist
- Black Bile
- Swamp Monster
- Evil Genius
- The Greenery
They will have their own booths, so aside from just taking in all the awesome music, you can look around and shop for some great shirts, all proudly local! Get stoked!
This year, the Blast-off will also have a collaboration with Pinatikai VII, which is an awesome event that features great music mixed with a tattoo competition. It is on its 7th year. It used to be a separate event usually coinciding with the Blast-off, but this year, they’ve teamed up, and it’s going to be another great showcase of tattoos and art!
We’re glad to have some awesome sponsors for this event. Who knows, if you rock your Vans kicks and apparel, you might even get a prize. *hint hint*
